SHOOTING with Light, which tells the story of photographer Gerda Taro using the lost photographs that she risked her life to take, comes to The Courtyard on Tuesday, September 20.

It is 1933 and a young German refugee flees to Paris, reinventing herself as Gerda Taro. Discovering the wonder of photography, she falls in love with a fellow refugee who teaches her, "if your pictures aren't good enough, you aren't close enough". Together they venture to the Spanish Civil War and capture the tyranny of fascism. As pioneers of frontline photo journalism, he would go on to receive international recognition as the iconic war photographer Robert Capa but she would be forgotten. Internationally renowned company Idle Motion has searched within these snapshots to expose one of the most remarkable untold stories of our age.

Using innovative staging, physicality and multimedia, Shooting with Light pieces together the life of an exceptional woman, glimpsed through the images she captured.
