AS memories fade of all the outdoor events of a British summer, it's a wonderful thing to have a season of entertainment on the horizon that offers a bit of something for all the family.

And that's exactly what's on offer at The Courtyard as September arrives - a season that starts in style and ends with the Christmas cracker that is the annual panto, Aladdin, running from November 26 to January 7.

Highlights of the forthcoming season include and evening of song, reminiscences and chat with Britain's popular soprano, Lesley Garrett, whosee behind-the-scenes stories and anecdotes will give audiences a unique insight into her life on the stage

As well as performing with the English and Welsh National Operas, Lesley has recently starred in Carousel and The Sound of Music and appeared on television shows including Strictly Come Dancing and Loose Women.

At the end of September singer/songwriter - and winner of Dancing on Ice - Ray Quinn will be at The Courtyard to showcase his new album, Old Soul, Young Blood, and demonstrating the talent that saw him take second place to Leona Lewis on ITV's X Factor.

Comedy comes to the venue in a variety of guises, starting with the return of the inimitable and unique Pam Ayres, whose eye for the comic and absurd in everyday life guarantees laughs - an elaborate and increasingly ridiculous story about a dog and a birthday cake was especially memorable on an earlier visit to Hereford!

And Omid Djalili, who memorably played not one but two benefit gigs in support of Hereford United, is in the city with his intelligent, sometimes provocative and always entertaining stand-up, while professional grumpy old woman Jenny Eclair also makes a welcome return to The Courtyard stage.

The theme of this season is Adventure, and two of the biggest adventures will be Space Jam on October 26, which will take over the entire Courtyard space as part of Herefordshire's Family Festival, transforming the building into whole new universe packed with family friendly activities.

The ultimate adventure experience sees William Golding’s masterpiece Lord of The Flies explode onto the stage from October 6 to 15, a Courtyard Production involving young local talent and professional actors, that promises to be full of action, passion and emotion.
