A HISTORICAL figure delivers a compelling story at The Courtyard on Saturday, May 21 when Nicholas Collett brings Nelson: The Sailors’ Story, to the stage.

The one-man show is a thought-provoking account of Nelson’s life alongside musings on the modern day. Nelson comes to life from his position as a statue in Trafalgar Square and tells his story whilst observing modern day London and the goings-on around him in this engaging play.

Amidst Trafalgar’s shot, smoke and din, the crew of the Victory strive to destroy the Combined Fleet of France and Spain whilst below the column in Trafalgar Square, a homeless Falklands veteran shivers in the cold.

Collett is no stranger to city audiences, having appeared as both Dromios in The Comedy of Errors at the Nell Gwynne Theatre in 1995, with the company he co-founded, Third Party, and as the Dame in Mother Goose that Christmas - the last panto there.

In 1998 Third Party were the first touring company to play at The Courtyard and in 2004 he joined The Courtyard panto and has appeared as Widow Twankey in Aladdin and Dame Izzy Eckerslike in Dick Whittington. In 2012 he brought his first one-man show, Spitfire Solo, to the Courtyard Studio.

Nelson - The Sailors’ Story won Best of Kansas City Fringe Critics Choice last year.
