ONE of Britain’s leading touring companies, Theatre Alibi, presents their new production, Falling at The Courtyard next week.

Falling is inspired by the extraordinary phenomenon of sinkholes, also known as swallow holes, the large gaping holes that suddenly appear and can swallow up buildings, cars and people whole. They occur all over the world, including in Britain, most recently and spectacularly in Cornwall and St Albans.

Falling starts with Claire and her teenage daughter Alice making tea together one rainy weekday evening. When Alice pops out to the shed she falls down a hole that’s suddenly yawned open on their lawn and nothing is ever the same again. The play explores the consequences of your life being, quite literally, undermined and questions what happens when terra firma isn’t firm at all?

Theatre Alibi has an excellent reputation for imaginative new work that combines an inventive physical performance style with original live music, visually striking sets and projection.

Written by award-winning playwright Daniel Jamieson and directed by Theatre Alibi’s Artistic Director Nikki Sved, Falling combines powerful performance with projection, puppetry and a thrilling live soundscape.

Falling will be in The Courtyard’s Studio Theatre on Friday, March 18 and Saturday, March 19 at 8pm. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk
