ARTS Alive presents more unusual, high-quality theatre and music, with Manuelita, a new play from Popelei Theatre about a turbulent period in South American history.

Manuela Saenz was an early 19th century revolutionary, proto-feminist, underground spy and the beating heart of South American liberation. She was the comrade and lover of the revolutionary leader Simon Bolivar but after his death she was exiled and died in poverty, all but forgotten by the history books until recent years.

Lecoq-trained Tamsin Clarke blends storytelling, physical theatre, comedy and live music, to bring Manuela?s story of love, loss and revolution vibrantly to life. With accompaniment by Colombian musician and guitarist Camilo Menjura (UK Latin-American Musician of the Year 2014), Manuelita promises audiences a heart-swelling, toe-tapping night out at the theatre. Recommended age 10+.

Tamsin Clarke and Camilo Menjura will bring Manuelita to life at Brilley Village Hall on Saturday at 7.30pm. To book, call 01544 327227
