IN an innovative ‘first’ for Herefordshire, a theatre production is being promoted in advance with a specially filmed ‘trailer’.

The trailer, advertising a forthcoming production of Ibsen's Ghosts, is being shown at the Conquest Theatre, Bromyard throughout March.

In line with the style of the short filmed advert, the play it advertises could be the latest TV drama!

Helene's late husband fathered illegitimate children. She hid the truth from the town, and deceived her artist son; but he's just been told a deadly legacy will kill him - soon. The drunken carpenter and his daughter want things their way - and the moralising Pastor denies his own humanity.

This is a vibrant new translation of Ibsen's famous work, not previously performed outside London. Ghosts, a scathing commentary on 19th-century morality, was banned when first published in 1881. The ‘ghosts’ of the title are dead ideas, rigid social rules which stifle personal freedom; but there are also the ghosts of deeds long past echoing in the present. And that 'deadly legacy'? The sins of the fathers are tragically visited on their children...

Here to There Productions fuses professional and amateur talent, with a cast including actors from Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcester. Gloucester and London.

Ghosts can be seen at The Conquest Theatre from Thursday, March 26 to Saturday, March 28. To book, call the box office on 01885 488575 or visit conquest-theatre.co.uk.

The trailer is available on line at http://vimeo.com/118816558?from=facebook and on the Bromyard.info ‘Facebook’ page.
