Dick, a brave but naive boy, travels to London with Puss his sardonic cat. Dick has heard the streets are paved with gold and wants to seek his fortune - the cat is not so sure and thinks his master is gullible, to say the least.

The intrepid pair discover that far from being paved with gold, the streets of London are home to hundreds of rats, with a particularly nasty, villainous leader, King Rat.

Dick falls in love with Alice, the beautiful daughter of Alderman Fitzwarren, whose hapless cook, Sally, (the dame), gets in a bit of a sticky but hilarious situation doing a spot of wallpapering.

After various adventures, including a shipwreck with Captain Sinkham, a rubbish sailor, all ends well when Puss saves the day by eating all the rats. Dick marries Alice and poor captain Sinkham ends up with Sally.

Local talent, including children, combine to bring a colourful and lively pantomime feast to the community. A special note for children.... look out for the gorilla!
