SIMON Callow returns to Malvern Theatres on Saturday to tackle one-man play The Man Jesus.

This extraordinary play looks back 2,000 years to witness key moments in the life of ‘the man Jesus’, through the eyes of the people who knew him.

Simon Callow, one of Britain's best-loved actors, performs this fresh and moving account of biblical stories including the raising of Lazarus, the wedding at Cana and the journey to Jerusalem. His powerful portrayal of the tyrants, traitors and madmen in Jesus’ life asks people of all faiths and none: what sort of a man was able to inspire the history of the world?

No stranger to the Malvern stage, Callow has previously appeared in successful one-handers including Dr Marigold and Mr Chops (2011) and The Man From Stratford (2010) as well as starring alongside Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart in Beckett’s Waiting For Godot, when the tour opened in Malvern to sell-out audiences in 2009.

Thought-provoking, thrilling and full of wit, this production premiered to great acclaim at Belfast’s Lyric Theatre, and comes to Malvern as part of a strictly limited UK tour. The performance will be followed by a post-show champagne reception with Simon Callow, advance booking essential to avoid disappointment.
