A HUGE success on the Arts Alive circuit a couple of years ago; here’s a second chance to fall into the pages of a Raymond Chandler novel; wear your coat collar high and lurk in the shadows for this multi-award winning one-man comedy show … with a dark side.
Following anti-hero Bruce Bane, it’s a classic American detective novel spliced together with a Quentin Tarantino movie and a parody of film noir. The performance uses mime and gesture to conjure the setting and all the sound effects you would expect (heartbeats, bullets, gurgling and driving, to name a few) plus multiple characters.
Writer and creator Joe Bone plays all of the characters, bringing his comic anti-hero and tale of bloody revenge to life with just his body, his voice and a stunning live guitar soundtrack from Ben Roe. Bane is a trilogy, but you can see any show independently and on this occasion it’s numbers one and two.
Dripping with five-star reviews this is a gutsy and graphic show that’s also side-splittingly funny, as the feedback from past Arts Alive audiences reveals:
“Brilliant... perhaps the best crime movie never made”. The Guardian.
“Joe Bone’s performance is phenomenal... very funny” Time Out.
Bane is suitable for age 12+ and will be at The Market Theatre, Ledbury on Saturday, October 4 at 8pm. To book, call 07967 517125 or visit themarkettheatre.com
