THE Playhouse Cinema in Leominster has joined the ranks of local venues showing NT Live productions.

Their second screening will be A Streetcar named Desire, starring Gillian Anderson, on Tuesday, September 16, which will also be streamed live at The Courtyard in Hereford.

Future NT Live broadcasts include DV8 Physical Theatre Company's new production John, which authentically depicts real-life stories, combining movement and spoken word to create a moving theatrical experience. Lloyd Newson, DV8’s artistic director, interviewed more than 50 men asking them frank questions, initially about love and sex. One of those men was John. What emerged was a story that is both extraordinary and touching. Years of crime, drug use and struggling to survive lead John on a search in which his life converges with others, in an unexpected place, unknown by most. John will be screened at The Courtyard on Tuesday, December 9.

In February next year, Treasure Island, Robert Louis Stevenson’s story of murder, money and mutiny is brought to life in a thrilling new stage adaptation of Treasure Island by Bryony Lavery. It will be screened on Wednesday, February 18.
