ODDSOCKS produced their usual sparkling brilliance on a dry, if fresh, evening at Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School with their imaginative performance of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night.

The touring troupe have been to Herefordshire many times during their quarter-of-a-century of performing - this tour is their 25th anniversary.

But this time there is one immediately noticeable difference with their familiar 'cart', which acted as a variety of backdrops for productions, now replaced by a shiny new double-deck stage.

This allows for an added musical element with the action interspersed with familiar songs from the 80s and 90s performed by the talented group of actors.

Andrew McGillan, Joseph Maudsley, Dom Gee-Burch and Louisa Farrant are all familiar from past Oddsocks tours, this time augmented by first-timer Rebecca Little.

All are not only skilled actors but accomplished musicians, most are multi-instrumentalists, and they keep the action cracking on at a lively and hilarious pace.

But, above all, there is a typically bravura performance as Malvolio from Oddsocks co-founder Andy Barrow, whose continuing relish in what he and his wonderful group have created is clear for all to see.

Even his fellow performers have a hard job keeping a straight face at his antics - he succeeded in stopping the show with just one line in his secondary role as a priest while those on stage struggled to compose themselves.

Catch Oddsocks whenever and wherever you can, we shall be looking forward enthusiastically to their next visit to Herefordshire.
