RAIN or Shine Theatre Company make their annual return to Dore Abbey on Wednesday, July 16, with their production of The Merchant of Venice
Shakespeare weaves a web of romantic intrigue, cunning duplicity and comical foolery in The Merchant of Venice. Are the merchants trading on the Rialto as respectable as they claim to be? Is the young Venetian man choosing between gold, silver and lead caskets, a fortune hunter or a love-struck romantic? And who is the unknown lawyer pleading for the life of an unfortunate merchant?
