REACTION Theatre Makers present Fish Head, a thought-provoking and ‘delightful’ play, at Hellens Manor in Much Marcle.

With a cast of three and a Perspex set, this highly visual piece tells the story of Tom, an oyster fisherman who walks out to sea, and Lydia, a ventriloquist sitting on the beach with her dummy.

Lydia reaches out to Tom through Jonty, her beautifully crafted ventriloquist dummy, and all of the action takes place around/inside/under/on top of a pristine cube of beautifully lit Perspex. Suited dancers seamlessly transform the cube from caravan to boat to cliff top, punctuating the action with fresh choreography created in collaboration with Worcester University.

A carefully selected soundtrack elevates the emotional intensity of key moments, with the pace of the piece ebbing and flowing like the waves.Reaction Theatre Makers are a collective of Midlands-based artists telling stories that focus on mental well-being and our changing environment. Quirky, abstract and yet accessible, they aim to strike a balance between creating theatre as a tool for social change and theatre as entertainment.
