CONVERSATIONS bring people together. This has led to collaboration for a charity event here at Shelley Theatre.

When you connect the dots, it creates a rewarding picture.

Adrienne Coles is marketing manager for Dorset Children’s Foundation, as well as host for the monthly Shelley Comedy evenings. This Friday’s Comedy Show charity show, all started from a conversation.

Adrienne explains, “Everything started when Patsy (Halmey) and Scott (Akam), the Dorset Children’s Foundation founders, came to one of the Coastal Comedy evenings.”

“They absolutely loved it. Patsy and Scott wanted to create a charity evening where they could raise funds for children within the county and combine this with comedy acts for everyone to enjoy. It was a case of bottling up what happens each month.”

Dorset Children’s Foundation was founded in 2013, with one charity shop in Boscombe, this has now grown to three stores. Harry Redknapp is ambassador for the charity and AFC Bournemouth’s Junior Cherries, have selected as their charity of the year.

As the conversation grew, this led to a job proposal. Adrienne highlighted, “As our dialogue grew, we formed a close bond, this led to taking on board a marketing role for the charity during 2017.”

“With the network that I have with Coastal Comedy, this has meant that a charity evening became a reality, where I could utilise the acts that I have worked with over the years.”

“So, an initial conversation, that grew into a friendship, that led to a job has now come to fruition with an evening this Friday.”

“Dorset Children’s Foundation represents the heartbeat of the local area. All proceeds from the show will support a sick child within the community.”

The event consists of comedians Paul McCaffrey, James Alderson and headline act Raymond and Mr. Timpkins, as well as a Thai meal and a welcome drink.

Shelley Theatre trustee, Nina Dunne commented, “The Shelley Theatre community represents interaction and collaboration. If we can bring people together, that leads to initiatives that support the local area, then like to think that we have a key role to play within the county and the connections that materialise.”

Tickets for the Friday charity evening are £25 and you can buy your tickets via www.shelleytheatre.co.uk
