Julie Goodyear and Kym Marsh starred in Street of Dreams, the Coronation Street live show
The Coronation Street musical may have come to the end of the road only days after its premiere after planned shows were postponed.
Street of Dreams was billed as a "live musical tribute to Britain's best-loved soap" and featured a cast including stars of the show past and present.
Kym Marsh and Corrie veterans Julie Goodyear and Kevin Kennedy all featured in the show which was compered by comic Paul O'Grady and had its premiere in Manchester on Thursday.
Theatrical newspaper The Stage printed sections of an email sent to cast and crew from co-producer John Ward in which he said dates planned for later this month had been postponed because he was "far from happy with the show artistically".
He said it has not been cancelled and "an improved show certainly has the potential to go on and be a long running hit. We had some mixed reviews but also some raves. But it needs to be changed".
The show got mixed reviews with The Guardian praising its "wonderful" dialogue but The Daily Telegraph gave it two stars out of five and criticised "the lameness of the script".
The Daily Mirror said it had "a script that seemed more cobbled together than constructed".
A statement from the show's producers said they were "keen to revisit the production and further develop ideas for the UK tour".
It continued: "As a result the existing dates have been re-arranged. New tour dates for Dublin, Belfast and Newcastle will be announced very soon.
"The producers would like to apologise to those who have already bought a ticket for the original tour dates and ask that they contact the venue directly."
