Carmina play in Grosmont

Rob King and Pippa Marland Rob King and Pippa Marland

A CONCERT at Part-y-Seal in Grosmont on Saturday, September 15, represents something of a homecoming for Pippa Marland and Rob King, who, together, started Carmina in Herefordshire many years ago.

Carmina’s music is an intoxicating blend of Celtic-inspired themes and jazz improvisation, woven together in powerful original songs with evocative lyrics written by Pippa, and since the start of their career in the 1990s, they have toured all over the world and recorded five albums, attracting widespread acclaim.

“Mesmerising, bewitching, Carmina’s songs are effortless in the international language of love and the emotions,” said the Irish Times.

Their latest album, My Crescent City, is their second collaboration with Irish music legend Dónal Lunny, who produced and guested on the album, which was hailed by Frank Hennessy of BBC Radio Wales’s Celtic Heartbeat as ‘absolutely gorgeous – a masterpiece’.

An Abergavenny Food Festival Fringe event, there will also be a buffet and bar from 7pm, with music starting at 7.45pm.

To book, call Part-y-Seal on 01981 240814, leaving a contact number.
