Bromyard Carnival of Jazz returns on August 17

VETERAN festival organiser and top Midlands jazz drummer Alan Buckley will present a second Bromyard Carnival of Jazz Festival later this month – a three-day feast of jazz and other types of music in venues across the town.

Alan said: “Bromyard resident and music fan Mike Cresswell followed the progress of our festivals for years and asked if I could organise one in the town.

“So we went to take a look around and settled on the Falcon Hotel, an ideal place for events. We have had total co-operation from landlords John and Sylvia Silver, who were very enthusiastic about the project.

“The first festival last year was a fantastic success and attracted a lot of attention.”

This year’s festival – from August 17 to 19 – will see a wide variety of bands playing a broad spectrum of music, with events starting at noon on Friday and ending at 6pm on Sunday.

A New Orleans-style marching parade will set off through the town at 11.30am on the Saturday and a service will be held on the Sunday at St Peter’s Church, Bromyard.

Accommodation can be provided by hotels and pubs in the area and there will also be camping facilities provided.
