Sun shines over Three Choirs Festival

THE sun has been shining over the Three Choirs Festival in Hereford.

The historic choral festival, which runs until Saturday, continues today (Thursday) with a performance of Shakespeare’s Richard III in the Bishops Palace Garden (10.30am), the Delius Society Lunch inside the Festival Marquee, a concert from NYO Wales at Hereford Cathedral, and a musical version of Greek classic Medea at the Powell Theatre in Church Street (7.30pm).

Events tomorrow (Friday) include music from Mark Bebbington at Shirehall (11am) and the Olympic Fanfare concert at the Cathedral (7.30pm), hailing the start of the London 2012 Games with stirring performances of music by Tchaikovsky (1812 Overture), Coleridge-Taylor (Petite Suite de Concert) and Berlioz (Te Deum).

There are also tours of the newly refurbished Cathedral Close taking place.
