Pop-Up Opera cook up a little romance
THE innovative and exciting Pop-Up Opera company returns to the county on May 19, with a performance of Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore (The Elixir of Love) at St Mary’s Church in Pembridge.
Nemorino is madly in love with Adina, who either ignores him or taunts him. In desperation he purchases a love potion from wheeler dealer Dulcamara, who assures him of its immediate effect.
But can it work, or can Adina recognise her true feelings, before his rival in love, Belcore, pushes Adina to agree to marry him?
Tickets are £15 for the opera and £7.50 for the picnic (there is also a wine/soft drinks bar) and are available from The Steppes, Pembridge or by post from Robert Anderson, The Garth, Pembridge, Herefordshire HR6 9DX. Cheques should be made payable to Pembridge PCC and please enclose a stamped, self addressed envelope.
