Hay Festival launches The Sound Castle to present the best in contemporary music

Ghostpoet will play The Sound Castle Ghostpoet will play The Sound Castle

NEW musical talent is celebrated at Hay Festival this year with the introduction of an exciting new strand of programming as the Sound Castle opens.

The programme is contemporary and diverse, embracing an explosion of new musical talents within funk, gospel, soul, folk, hop-hop, electronica and jazz. It features spectacular performances from Mercury prizewinners and future stars – among them the BBC Sound of 2012 shortlisted Lianne La Havas, and Ghostpoet, left –“with lullabies to hypnotise, this somnolent spirit is sleepwalking his way to greatness” said The Guardian.

It’s an eclectic line-up with everything from the experimental and ethereal indie folk of Winter Villains to the the haunting soul sound of Ola Onabule, as well as alto-saxophonist Soweto Kinch, with the hugely successful RWCMD Jazz Time Club in residence, playing a free concert daily at noon.
