A 69-YEAR-old DJ is set to rock the Jailhouse tomorrow (Friday) night.

DJ Derek is a regular on the festival circuit with his blend of 60s rock, reggae, ska, dance hall and soul music and has played at both Glastonbury and the Big Chill.

He has also featured in the video of Dirty Disco by Dizzie Rascal, where he played himself as a DJ in a disco hall for old aged pensioners and away from music the real ale drinker is renowned for having visited every Wetherspoons pub in the country.

Chris Menton and Dex are the support, while in room two revellers will be entertained with a mix of breaks, electro and house with DJ Lolo and Windy.

Elsewhere in the city, Ian Davies will once again kickstart Play’s weekend tonight (Thursday) with his mix of chart, dance and R&B classics, while the Blueschool Street venue will be opening up both of their rooms tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday, with Mark “Big Dog” Baker, Silko and D-Tone providing the tunes.

The Simply Soul team will then be playing some sexy R&B on Sunday.

Fusion also starts their weekend tonight (Thursday) with Roddy Hankins playing the best from the 1970s onwards, while music from the ‘90s and noughties will be blaring out tomorrow (Friday).

Mark “Big Dog” Baker then finishes the weekend on Saturday with his dancefloor fillers.

Andrew Mawdsley will be behind the decks at Saxtys tomorrow with the best floorfillers, while Kris Manning will be playing funky house and dance anthems on Saturday.

Mamma Jammas will also again be offering an alternative night of indie, ska, punk and classic rock tomorrow (Friday), while disco will be the theme on Saturday.

And outside of the city, Euphoria in Leominster will be open tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday and Charlie’s in Ross-on-Wye from tonight (Thursday), with both venues sure to entertain their respective towns.
