4:00pm Thursday 9th February 2012 in Music & Dance
THE man whose remix of Starry Eyed by Hereford’s very own Ellie Goulding has had millions of hits on YouTube heads for the city tomorrow night (Friday). Jakwob is tipped for big things in 2012, and his performance in the intimate surroundings of The Jailhouse presents the perfect opportunity to catch a star in the ascendant.
His fusion of dubstep and all things dance music make for an eclectic yet diverse style that appeals to the masses, and Radio 1’s Zane Lowe declared Jakwob’s new single Electrify “the hottest record in the world”, an accolade he also awarded to the DJ producer’s remix of Ellie’s Under the Sheets back in 2009.
Jakwob’s beats and drops draw flattering comparisons with last year’s crossover success story, Nero (who also played at The Jailhouse last year), but it’s clear that 2012 will see Jakwob put his own stamp on dance music, and mainstream music too.
With support from regular heroes MeK-ReK, Pricey, Dubstars and Smith & Strike, it’s a night that promises to be huge. Entry is strictly 18-plus only. For full details, check the Jailhouse's Facebook page at facebook.com/jailhousehereford.
And see the video for Electrify at jakwob.com/video/.
Saturday sees another return from an old favourite, with the Naughty But Nice Valentine’s Ball. The first 50 people through the door get a champagne reception so get down early.
