Rapper using his experience to help others

1:27pm Thursday 21st August 2008

INSPIRED by a tough childhood, a rapper from Herefordshire is using his experiences to help youngsters.

Small Morris, real name Sibanda Morris, is originally from Zimbabwe and moved to Hereford with his family 10 years ago.

Morris, now 21, is signed to Dragonstorm records and his latest track My Favourite Song is in the top 20 of Fizz TV most played videos and has aired on MTV Base UK and Europe.

He also supported Lethal Bizzle on his Back to Business tour and is currently working with The Prince’s Trust, helping underprivileged youngsters.

Label director Jacqui Powell-Swinburne said: “It was just by chance that we picked up on him on MySpace. He is very talented.

“He is a great inspiration to people who are struggling to get out of a bad situation and is very popular with the youngsters, who look up to his successes through all the struggles in life.”

Morris is also touring UK schools for an anti-bullying campaign, and is about to record a special anti-bullying song.

Before moving to Hereford, the former St Mary’s High School student lived in Gokwe in Zimbabwe, where gang violence and poverty was rife, and started rapping.

He then moved to Harare, living with his grandmother and cousins while his parents found work and a home in England, and moved to Hereford soon after.

His next song Feelin Me will be out soon. Go to dragonstormrecords.com for more details.
