Festival chance for youngsters

1:24pm Thursday 21st August 2008

NEXT year’s Malvern Festival, its 80th anniversary, will see one talented youngster awarded the title of Young Musician of Malvern and a prize of £500.

Festival organisers thought a Young Musician competition would be in keeping with the festival’s celebration of the arts.

“Barry Jackson and George Bernard Shaw started the festival to celebrate artistic talent and earn Malvern national recognition for its commitment to the arts,” says Nic Lloyd, honorary festival director. “This competition is in keeping with this ideology.”

Entrants should be aged between 11 and 21 and the winner will have the opportunity to perform during Malvern Festival. Entry forms are available at malvern-theatres.co.uk and at the box office and should be returned to the theatre by Sunday, November 30. For further details call 01684 580943.
