A GROUP of 16 young Swiss clarinet players, aged from 11 to 18, will be visiting Hereford from Sunday, June 30 to Saturday, July 5.
The group, led by clarinet teacher Martin Frey, consists of his pupils from towns and villages near Basel, and their visit will include an afternoon busking in High Town on Tuesday, July 1. Following that, they will enjoy a social evening with clarinettists from Hereford schools, and the following day they’ll spend the morning at local schools, with another session busking from 3-5pm.
The highlight of their visit will be a Clarinet Serenade concert at Holy Trinity church on Thursday, July 3, for which they will be joined by clarinettists from local schools. The programme will include a wide selection of music, finishing with a jazzy arrangement of Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho.
Tickets for the concert are available on the door or by calling 01432 851216.
