A FEAST of jazz will be served up next week at the HSBC Cheltenham Jazz Festival 2008, starting with two concerts from the legendary Earth Kitt, the woman dubbed “the most exciting woman in the world” by Orson Welles, in her only UK festival appearance. The original concert on Tuesday has already sold out, but a second date on Monday has been added, and both will now take place in the intimate setting of the Pittville Pump Room.
And that’s just the beginning of seven days and nights of jazz, with more jazz legends, including Courtney Pine, Cleo Laine and John Dankworth, who celebrate their 80th birthdays with some classic jazz standards, and Ruby Turner.
The festival also offers exclusive UK performances from guitar artist Bill Frisell and drum legend Jack DeJohnette, and Van Morrison presents his new album. For details call the box office on 01242 227979 or click on the link below.
