World-renowned soprano to sing in Hereford

12:04pm Tuesday 23rd October 2007

ONE of the world's greatest early music specialists, soprano Dame Emma Kirkby is joined by one of Britain's most outstanding period instrumental ensembles - Florilegium - in Hereford Concert Society's next presentation, on Monday, November 5, at the Courtyard.

Since its formation in 1991, Florilegium has established a reputation for stylish and exciting interpretations of music from the baroque era to the early romantic revolution. Florilegium often work with some of the world's finest musicians and this concert is no exception.

In spite of having made more than 100 recordings Dame Emma Emma still prefers live concerts, especially enjoying the pleasure of performing favourite programmes with colleagues.

In June this year, Emma Kirkby became Dame Emma, being made a DBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. Other accolades in an enormously successful career include being voted Artist of the Year in 1999 by Classic FM radio listeners, and awarded the Order of the British Empire in 2000.

Dame Emma Kirkby and Florilegium, conducted by Ashley Solomon, are at The Courtyard on Monday, November 5 at 7.30pm. To book, call the box office on 0870 1122330.
