A CHOIR founded three years ago to give girls the opportunity to sing in a high calibre group will be showcasing itself on Saturday at the Castle House Hotel in Hereford.

The Hellens Singers perform a wide repertoire - everything from contemporary pop to religious anthems, songs from the musicals to spirituals and choral classics - to a professional standard, practising four times a week.

Saturday's concert has been organised to provide a taste of what the choir does, both to the audience and potential supporters of the choir, and to girls who love singing and would like to be part of the Hellens story. Girls can audition from the age of nine and, if successful, will find themselves singing at concerts, weddings and private functions.

The concert and presentation from 12.30pm on Saturday will also launch a new group, Friends of the Hellens Singers, which it is hoped will help secure the choir's financial future.

If you can't make it on Saturday, auditions can be arranged through Tim Lowe, head of Hereford Cathedral Junior School, on 01432 363511 or by email at headmaster@hcjs.co.uk.
