The Great Hall at the Bishops Palace in Hereford is the venue on Sunday afternoon for an acoustic concert featuring two highly acclaimed stars of folk music.
Marianne McAleer was born into the vibrant London-Irish community of Kilburn, where she learned her earliest songs from her Cavan father, Jim McPhillips.
Although she sings in a number of styles, Marianne is best known for traditional Irish songs and is a multi award winner at both the All Britain and All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil. She is the current champion on this side of the water, in both Lilting and Singing in Irish.
Marianne is joined by Rosie Hood, a young folk singer from Wiltshire, known for her strong, pure voice and engaging solo performance.Rosie was a BBC Performing Arts Fellow in 2015 and a 2016 Horizon Award nominee at the Radio 2 Folk Awards.
