A POPULAR ensemble whose members have played with some of the UK’s top orchestras will perform a programme of chamber music at one of Herefordshire’s remotest churches.
Harmoniemusik is billed to play at far flung St Mary’s Church at the foot of the Black Mountains in Craswall on Saturday, October 14 from 7.30pm.
Trios for woodwind and harpsichord playing Handel, Bach, Ibert, Haydn and others will make for a highly varied programme for the event, organised by charity, Concerts for Craswall.
“It’s a very varied programme. There’s music from the 18th, 19th and 20th Centuries. We’ll be playing the flute, oboe, cor anglais, recorders bassoon and a harpsichord. We try and make all our programmes as interesting and varied as this,” said the ensemble’s Alec Forshaw, a founder member, who’ll be playing harpsichord and bassoon on the night.
He’ll be joined by Janna Huneke who has freelanced with the National Symphony Orchestra, Grange Park Opera, Brighton Philharmonic and Pimlico Opera and will be playing the flute and oboe.
Completing the trio will be Sarah Devonald, who produces music programmes for BBC Radio 3 and is principal oboe in many orchestras and opera companies as well as a soloist.
She’ll add the cor anglais, recorder and oboe to the mix.
Tickets are £12. Please send a cheque payable to ‘Concerts for Craswall’ together with an sae to Concerts for Craswall, Cranbourne, Bushbank, Herefordshire HR4 8EJ, or pay on the night (seats are limited). Contact the box office on 01432 839341 or email concertsforcraswall@outlook.com
