The Fron Male Voice Choir will give a concert in Hereford Cathedral on Saturday 24 June at 7.30 pm, as part of this year's cathedral tour in celebration of the choir's 70th anniversary.Froncysyllte Male Voice Choir, known for short as 'The Fron', has a proud history. Based in the village of Frontycysellte near Wrexham, it was formed in 1947 to compete in the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, and has had success in competitions throughout the UK and Europe.
Most recently, in May of this year the Fron won the large choir/over 41 voices category in the Cornwall International Male Choir Competition. It is probably better known, however, for its series of five CDs under the theme of ‘Voices of the Valley’. Its CDs have been awarded gold and platinum discs, and are sold in over 80 countries; tracks appear on 94 compilation CDs worldwide.
This internationally-acclaimed choir is appearing with supporting artist mezzo-soprano Kathryn Rudge, a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist.
Tickets are priced at £18 (front nave) and £15 (rear nave) plus booking fee of £1.50. Doors open at 6.45pm. In support of Hereford Cathedral Perpetual Trust.
