As part of Leominster Festival 2017, Leominster Choral Society are presenting their Summer Concert: The Armed Man by Jenkins and Rutter’s Gloria in the magnificent setting of The Priory, Leominster on Saturday, June 3 at 7pm

James Atherton will lead the 80 voices of Leominster Choral Society in a performance of these two powerful pieces, accompanied by Chameleon Arts Orchestra. Karl Jenkins was commissioned by the Royal Armouries Museum to write a piece to celebrate the millennium, and The Armed Man, a Mass for Peace, was dedicated to the victims of the Kosovo crisis. John Rutter’s Gloria, first performed in 1974, is a vibrant and energetic cornerstone of the modern choral repertoire.

The choir is joined in The Armed Man by Imam Sohayb Peerbhai of the Craven Arms Islamic Centre and the South Shropshire Interfaith Forum.

Tickets fare available from leominster-festival.com, Leominster Tourist Information Centre or Ceri Hibbert 07867 853671, as well as on the door.
