HEREFORD String Orchestra will be holding its autumn concert on Saturday, November 26 in Holy Trinity Church.

The first concert of the orchestra's 2016/17 season will celebrate English string music by Elgar, Vaughan Williams, Holst and others. There will be a performance of Vaughan-Williams' Oboe Concerto with well known local soloist Lydia Griffiths.

The programme also includes Elgar's Introduction and Allegro and Holst's St Paul's Suite as well as pieces by John Ireland and Gerald Finzi. Pamela White, founder of the Britten Singers and winner of the first Elgar in Hereford award, will be guest conducting the St Paul's Suite, as a birthday gift from her husband, Brian, who is generously sponsoring the concert.

The orchestra will be under the baton of Thomas Payne and led by Christine Lenten. Tickets for the concert, which starts at 7.30pm, are available from the Outback, on the door of by calling 01568 760633.
