A SPECAL musical event takes place at Malvern Theatres tomorrow as The English Concert make their first ever visit to the venue.

Founded in the 1970s by Trevor Pinnock, The English Concert has established itself amongst the finest chamber orchestras in the world and has an unsurpassed reputation in the field of historically aware performance of baroque and classical repertoire played on instruments of the period.

In Malvern, they present a programme entitled ‘Baroque Masters’, which will be conducted by their current artistic director Harry Bicket. The concert opens with Purcell’s celebrated Suite from King Arthur and also includes concertos by Handel, Vivaldi, Corelli and Telemann, whose rarely performed Viola Concerto will be played by Alfonso Leal del Ojo on a viola dating from 1697. The concert ends with Bach’s Orchestral Suite No.3, famous for its Air on the G String.
