SINGER songwriter Lowri Evans is a rising star on the acoustic music scene and comes to Garway Live! on Saturday.

Described by Bob Harris as a “wonderful singer songwriter”, what connects her most recent album, Everyone Is From Somewhere Else, to its predecessors - especially 2013’s well received Corner of My Eye - is Lowri’s sublime vocals. Blessed with “a voice so distinct and special that she sings as easy as one breathes” (Fish Records), Lowri immediately bonds with an audience, transporting them to the emotional heartland of every song she sings.

Lowri’s lyrics, as she reflects upon the human condition, are infused with insight, empathy and emotion - the heartbreak of Seventeen is inspired by events of World War One while the broken dreams of Somebody’s Girl hones in on the pain of loneliness.

To date her career has been the very definition of ‘independent’. Welsh-born, Welsh-speaking, Newport based Evans’ story has not been one of hype or hyperbole, overnight success or big record company intervention and her skills have been hones through gigging, writing and recording. In June 2014 her song ‘Gadael y gorffennol’ (‘Leaving The Past’) was immediately made ‘Track Of The Week’ on BBC Radio Cymru, residing on the station’s official play list for three months!
