RENOWNED musician Tom McConville brings his traditional singing and fiddle music to The Courtyard next month.

Tom McConville first experienced fiddle music growing up in a pub on Tyneside. He soon progressed onto the North East folk club circuit in the early 70s before turning professional in 1974. McConville then travelled across Europe with folk rock band Magna Carta and partnered with Kieron Halpin to produce two award winning albums and a top billing at The Cambridge Folk Festival.

Throughout his career McConville has gained great success and immense respect from his peers and public alike with one folk club organiser describing him as having “...sandpaper-dry wit, eye-watering skill on the fiddle, great vocals...”

Named as Musician of the Year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards in 2009, Tom McConville has played on hundreds of albums. However he has never forgotten his roots and is as happy in the intimate atmosphere of a small folk club as he is at the largest festivals. Don’t miss out on this chance to see him perform at The Courtyard this October.

To celebrate Folk Music at The Courtyard this Autumn, customers who buy two full price tickets to attend this performance will receive a free pint of Butty Bach before the show.

An Evening with Tom McConville will be in The Courtyard’s Studio Theatre on Thursday, October 13 at 8pm. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk
