ROSSITER Books presents an evening of book-inspired music from The Bookshop Band on Wednesday, June 15.

Writing songs inspired by books, the trio of Ben Please, Poppy Pitt and Beth Porter have been together since 2010. They began performing together in Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights, an independent bookshop in Bath, commissioned to write songs inspired by the work of authors visiting the shop.

A year after their first event in September 2010, the band had recorded four albums and now they're back with a whole bookshelf of new material - more than 100 book-inspired songs, serialised over 10 months as 10 albums. In these albums the band have further developed their mix of music and literature by collaborating directly with many of the authors themselves, who perfrom on the tracks, read extracts from their books or help produce the artwork, among them Man Booker Prize winners Ben Okri and Yann Martel.

The Bookshelf Tour started where it began in Mr B's Emporium of Reading Delights in Bath on Shakespeare's birthday/World Book Night back in April and arrives in Ross-on-Wye on June 15 at 7pm. Tickets available from Rossiter Books in Ross (01989 564464) or online at rossiterbooks.co.uk
