HEREFORD Chamber Choir will be giving a concert in aid of the Friends of Hereford Cathedral on Friday, May 27.

On the programme will be Come Ye Sons of Art, one of Purcell's most popular works (performed by the Hereford Chamber Choir and Orchestra with its full instrumentation), and Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb (a masterpiece of the 20th century English choral repertoire), which is very rarely heard in Imogen Holst's fantastically colourful orchestration.

The part songs the choir will sing alongside these works include a real favourite from Stanford (The Bluebird), one of Vaughan Williams’ most beautiful folksong arrangements (The Turtle Dove), and some absolute gems from Finzi’s Robert Bridges settings and Britten's Flower Songs. In addition, the audience will get to hear Warlock's Capriol Suite for Strings performed by the newly formed Hereford Chamber Orchestra. Hereford Chamber Choir have an excellent team of professional soloists for this concert and all proceeds from the event will go to the Friends of Hereford Cathedral.

Hereford Chamber Choir will be launching its first professionally recorded quality CD, English Choral Gems, at this concert, sponsored by Henryka who will be selling a selection of their music themed jewellery including an exclusive design of the choir’s apple logo.

Hereford Chamber Choir will be in concert in Hereford Cathedral at 7.30pm on Friday, May 27. Ticket available on the door or in advance by calling 01432 272783
