THE Britten Singers will be presenting a concert of mainly French music on Saturday, April 23 in Holy Trinity Church. The first part of the concert will consist of pieces by composers normally not thought of as writing choral music. Music by Saint-Saens and Debussy will open the concert, followed by sacred music by Durufle and Villette. Two pieces of English music by local composer John Frith will be included in the programme.
Following the interval the chamber choir will be performing the Durufle Requiem, a beautifully serene work, with organ accompaniment, played by Nicholas Wearne.
Admittance will be free but a collection will be taken in aid of The Samaritans. For further details about the concert, which starts at 7.30pm, please call Sue Conridge on 01432 269818.
