PETER Dyke will give the traditional Easter Monday organ concert at Hereford Cathedral on Monday at 1.15pm. The programme is always a closely-guarded secret, although Peter has let slip that he will be playing the last movement from Dvo?ák’s ‘New World’ Symphony.

"The organ concert on Easter Monday has long been one of the favourite events in my diary," said Peter. "It’s a good opportunity to bring out some pieces that I might not get the chance to play at a service, and it’s always nice to give the audience something of a surprise."

The cathedral also hosts an annual series of lunchtime organ concerts, which take place at 1.15 pm on Tuesdays during the summer months. This year’s series begins on Tuesday, May 3, with a concert given by Charles Maxtone-Smith, the cathedral’s organ scholar.

The series runs until late September, and sees players from Durham, Gloucester, Westminster, Winchester and Worcester cathedrals, Trinity College, Cambridge and many others coming to play Hereford’s world-famous Willis organ, which is widely reckoned to be one of the finest in the country.
