TOMORROW night at the Coach House at the Left Bank, there's a chance to hear the music of the exceptional Marry Waterson – daughter to Lal, niece to Norma and cousin to Eliza Carthy.
Released in the last week, Two Wolves, the new album from Marry and her current musical partner David A Jaycock, is already receiving outstanding reviews.
Marry is a folk songstress with a substantial family tradition to draw upon, and her new songs co-written with David carry the power of her heritage as well as portraying a new individual story. Marry’s “earthy, warm and powerful” singing is complemented by David’s “… surreal world of cobwebs, layered guitars and synths.”
The event is hosted by Weirdshire. To many people on the ‘psychedelic folk’ circuit Herefordshire is seen to embody a “sense of otherness”. A recent compilation Beating the Bounds curated by local band Sproatly Smith, showcased 15 local psych-folk bands, two of which, Vaginapocalypse and Alula Down, will be providing support tomorrow from 7.30pm. Tickets available on the door,
