THERE will be a taste of traditional Welsh music at The Courtyard as the fresh and vibrant sound of Calan comes to the venue at the end of the month.

Calan bring together the remarkable talents of five young musicians who breathe new life into old traditions through a contemporary and lively approach, sparkling melodies, foot-tapping tunes and spirited and energetic performances of Welsh step dancing.

They blast their way through some of the old favourite reels, jogs and hornpipes with fast paced and uplifting arrangements before melting into some of the most beautiful and haunting songs.

With their unique instrumental blend, not to mention the percussive sound of the Welsh clogs, Calan’s line-up is Patrick Rimes (fiddle, bagpipes, whistle,); fiddler Angharad Sian Jenkins; Bethan Rhiannon – main vocal, accordion and step dancing, Alaw Jones on harp and Sam Humphries on guitar.

Calan will be in the Studio Theatre on Tuesday, November 24 at 8pm. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk
