ANYONE who saw Reginald D Hunter's Songs of the South on BBC Television may have already seen Jerron "Blind Boy" Paxton, who featured in one episode, a phenomenal blues musician from the Southern states who has earned a reputation for transporting audiences back to the 1920s and dazzling them with his multi-instrumental skills. He sings and plays guitar, banjo, fiddle, harmonica, Cajun accordion and stride piano, as well as mesmerising his audiences with his humour and stories. He has the eerie ability to transform jazz, blues, folk and country into the here and now and make it real. His sound is influenced by the likes of Fats Waller and Blind Lemon Jefferson. To quote the Wall Street Journal, "Paxton is virtually the only music-maker of his generation to fully assimilate the blues idiom of the 1920s and 30s".

Jerron Paxton will be at Knighton Community Centre Bar on Sunday, November 15 at 8pm. Tickets available from Rhos Organics in Knighton or call 01547 528315.
