MERCURY Prize nominated Folk singer Sam Lee will perform a mixture of unconventional and contemporary folk interpretations at The Courtyard.
Sam is a singer, song collector, radio host, TV personality, teacher and animateur, and recently released his debut album Ground of its Own, comprised of songs learnt firsthand from the gypsy traveller community. His recording is a new musical manifesto, reflecting Sam’s unique artistic journey.
Winner of the 2011 Arts Foundation Award, Sam is fast becoming accepted as a new pioneer, defining the sound, sight and texture of folk song today. He and his band Sam Lee & Friends will be challenging all preconceptions of what ‘traditional folk’ should sound like in a unique concert.
Sam Lee & Friends will be at The Courtyard on Sunday, November 1 at 8pm. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk
