CATRIN Finch, former harpist to the Prince of Wales, will join forces with the nationally acclaimed choir Armonico Consort for a concert at Malvern Theatres on Friday, October 2. The Great British Bach Off! will see the harpist play movements from the Goldberg Variations, which she has ambitiously arranged for the instrument. Sandwiched between them is a selection of Bach’s hypnotic motets sung by Armonico Consort, under music director Christopher Monks. And as the ‘showstopper’, harpist and choir join together for the world premiere of Four Motets (after Bach) by composer-in-residence Toby Young inspired by these two great masterpieces and dedicated to Catrin Finch.

Conductor and artistic director of Armonico Consort, Christopher Monks says, “This is a concert blending tradition, innovation and inspiration and if you’re a fan of Bach – a mesmerising melodist and dramatist – this is absolutely the concert for you!”

Armonico Consort’s Bach Motets & Goldberg Variations: The Great British Bach Off! is at Malvern Theatres on Friday, October 2 at 7.45pm.
