BRITISH pianist Duncan Honeybourne will give a recital at the Lion Ballroom, Leominster on Sunday, September 20 at 3pm.
He begins with two of the best-known piano sonatas from baroque composer Domenico Scarlatti, whose music is characterised by clarity and elegance, which are also hallmarks of the E major Haydn sonata from the classical period which follows them.
The remainder of the programme is from the romantic period, starting with Waldszenen, a wonderfully descriptive and atmospheric work by Schumann and continuing with a lovely poetic piece by Liszt based on one of Schumann’s songs.
The concert ends with a celebrated masterpiece by Brahms, his Variations and Fugue on a theme by Handel.
