REHEARSALS begin on Monday for Hereford Choral Society’s winter season. New members are always welcome for the society, subject to a simple audition. Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings at 7.30 pm, usually in the Zimmerman Building of Hereford Cathedral School.
an open rehearsal will be held on Monday, September 14, when anyone who thinks they might enjoy singing with the choir is welcome to join in with a typical rehearsal evening. Those who would like to attend are requested to contact membership secretary Lucy Hargrove in advance to ensure that enough music is available for everyone. This season’s first Hereford Choral Society concert takes place in Hereford Cathedral on Saturday, November 14 at 7.30pm. The works to be performed are the Five Mystical Songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams and Ein Deutsches Requiem (A German Requiem) by Johannes Brahms.
The society’s 2015/16 programme also includes the annual candlelight performance of Handel’s Messiah on December 6 and Handel’s Alexander’s Feast on 21 March. Early booking is recommended for the ever-popular Messiah, which this year includes ex-Hereford Cathedral chorister Patrick Dunachie as counter-tenor soloist.
