WELSH harpist Benjamin Creighton Griffiths, who will give a special masterclass at this year's Glasbury Arts and Theatr Brycheiniog Harp Summer School, made his international debut in 2004 when he was just seven years old and took second prize in the under18 section of the Concours International de Harpe in Nantes, France.

Two years later he won the under-13 competition at the Wales International Harp Festival and in 2008 the under-16 competition of the Concours de harpe Lily Laskine in Paris. Since then he has been earning himself an enviable reputation and given many international concerts touring to Brazil, Canada, The Caribbean, Croatia, France, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands and Spain.

Benjamin is the Principal Harp of the Wales Concert Orchestra and has performed as a concerto soloist with The Welsh Sinfonia, The Welsh Concert Orchestra, Llandenny Strings, The Cardiff Philharmonic and the orchestra of Le Garde Républicaine.

In 2011 Ben took part in ITV's Born to Shine as mentor to Welsh rugby legend Gareth Thomas who learnt to play the harp in six weeks. The programme raised more than £2,100,000 for Save the Children.

Ben, who is still only 21, joins renowned harpists and tutors including Harriet Earis (jazz/fusion harp and improvisation), Lily Neill (Celtic harp), Eleanor Turner (classical harp)and Eleri Turner (Welsh harp) for three days of workshops and masterclasses, culminating in a concert featuring summer school students and tutors.

The Harp Summer School runs from Wednesday, August 26 to Saturday, August 29. To book a place, download an application form at www.glasburyarts.co.uk
