EVERY year, 2Faced Dance Company presents a community show which allows each and every child who participates in the company’s classes to perform on a professional stage.

“Our annual show is a really important part of the programme we offer to our students," says the company’s education manager, Sarah Rogers. "All of our classes work so hard to bring the show together and their dedication and talent shows in the amazing work that they bring to the stage. Last year’s show was incredible and this year, Alpha is going to be even bigger and better. You will be astounded by what these children are capable of.”

Comprising 130 children and young people from Herefordshire, 2Faced Dance’s community class programme offers an opportunity to learn new skills, interact with their peers and grow in confidence. Chris Knight, who is now a professional dancer with 2Faced Dance, attended the company’s classes whilst growing up in Hereford. Having since graduated from both The Northern School of Contemporary Dance and London Contemporary Dance School, Chris reflects on his time in the community programme; “2Faced Dance not only introduced me to dance, but it provided me with a diverse range of skills which I still draw on today as a professional - from technical training to choreographic responsibilities, even through to the running of a company.”

As part of Alpha, the company’s professional male dancers will be performing their newest outdoor work, KAPOW. Three superheroes compete in the ultimate superhero games in this new piece for all the family by artistic director Tamsin Fitzgerald, which will be touring festivals across the UK this summer.

Alpha is at The Courtyard on Friday and Saturday, July 10 and 11. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk
