FOLLOWING the huge success of their joint Heritage Lottery funded project, The Trench, with St Mary’s RC High School, 2Faced Dance Company is now taking the project on the road, to schools around the county.

The Trench Tour will visit four host schools in July (The Hereford Academy, Aylestone Business and Enterprise College, Whitecross Hereford High School and Madley Primary School), with pupils from 14 different schools from around the county working together on the project.

The Trench Tour, which has received generous funding from the Ernest Cook Trust, is enabling children and young people to learn about WW1 in a creative, inspiring and engaging way whilst increasing their knowledge and understanding of a variety of art forms.

Throughout the summer term, professional dancers from 2Faced Dance have been working with students from each of the participating schools in in-school workshops to create dance performances based on World War One. In July, the project will conclude with each host school holding a day of WW1-themed arts workshops in a selection of art forms including dance, poetry, film and music for both their own students and their feeder schools. The day will then culminate in a performance of the work created with 2Faced Dance throughout the summer term.

The performance piece created with St Mary’s RC High School students earlier this year will also be performed at each of The Trench Tour performances, giving young people the opportunity to watch a professionally directed piece, performed by both local young people from their community and professional dancers from 2Faced Dance, alongside performing their own work.

Performances take place on Thursday, July 2, 7pm at The Hereford Academy (01432 373570); Monday, July 6, 7pm at Aylestone Business & Enterprise College (01432 357371); Tuesday, July 7, 7pm at Whitecross Hereford High School(01432 376080); Monday, July 13, 7pm, Madley Primary School (01981 250241).
